  • HTML Text displays on the report.
  • HTML Text Interpretation not working.
  • When viewing a report based on TTX files against datasets fields that are set to HTML Interpretation in Crystal Reports Server Embeddded 2008, it ignores the HTML Text Interpretation formatting, and simply output the text.

  • Crystal Reports Server Embedded 2008

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the report and verify that the database field is set to HTML Text Interpretation.
  2. Using RAS/report client document pass the report a dataset based on the xml output provided.
  3. Run the report.
  4. You will notice that the text comes through as clear text instead of being interpreted in HTML format.
  5. Export the report from the viewer and open it in the Crystal Reports designer.
  6. Check the database field and you will find that the interpretation is now set to none, despite it was set to HTML Text Interpretation originally.

  • The issue is seen when changing the datasource of the report from a TTX file to a Dataset/XSD.
  • The issue has been tracked under ADAPT01338992

  • The issus is resolved in Support Pack 03 and higher of Crystal Reports Server Embedded 2008
  • If you cannot apply a product update for some time, then to workaround the issue, open the report and for each field requiring HTML Text Interpretation, go to the text Interpretation section and add the formula “crHTMLText” (without the quotes).
