Symptom

Italic formatting is lost when exporting a report with Italic Asian characters (Chinese, Japan, Korean) in Crystal Report Java SDK application

Environment

  • Crystal Report for Eclipse V2
  • Crystal Report for Eclipse V1
  • Crystal Reports 2008

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Crystal Report containing Asian characters (Chinese, Japan, Korean) characters.
  2. Apply the Italic style to the above Asian characters.
  3. A custom SDK application using Crystal Report Java SDK loads and displays the report.
  4. Click EXPORT button on the Viewer to export the report to PDF format.
  5. Open the PDF file and find out that Italic formatting is lost.

Cause

The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT 01365868.

Resolution

This is a known product limit. It is too risky and will not be fixed in the current version of the product.
