1455219 - "Error 1718. File was rejected by digital signature policy"

Symptom

  • During installation of the Business Objects Client Tools package, the user is prompted to install the Microsoft KB925336 to avoid failure of the installation
  • This is due to the Microsoft issue described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925336 which causes the error "Error 1718. File was rejected by digital signature policy".
  • However Microsoft only provides a fix for Windows Server 2003, and not for Windows XP.  For XP a workaround should be used, however this workaround may not be acceptable due to security reasons.
