1456641 - Error: “Failed to export” when exporting Crystal Report with Unicode characters and Chinese fonts to PDF

Symptom

When Crystal reports having Unicode data set with Chinese fonts is exported to PDF it shows below error.

"Failed to Export"

Environment

Crystal Reports 2008 SP2

Reproducing the Issue

Create a Crystal report with some Chinese data.
Set one of the below mentioned fonts and export to PDF format

Cause

It is observed that these fonts do not work with Crystal Reports correctly while exporting to PDF.

Resolution

Use other supported fonts for unicode and Chinese characters like 'Arial Unicode MS' or 'Minglu'.
