Symptom
- Database field object is blank when a report is viewed in a Windows VS .NET application
- This works in VS .NET 2003, using Crystal Reports 9.1
- When upgraded to VS .NET 2005, crystal reports 10.2, the field object is blank
- When the report is exported to PDF, or Crystal Reports file format, the field object is visible
- Setting the section height to a height value of 300 makes the field visible, but results in unwanted report format
Reproducing the Issue
- Format a database field object as Courier New 12pt
- Set the section in which the field is placed to a height value of 240
- Set the field object to a height value of 240
- View the report in a Windows application using the Crystal Reports SDK for VS .NET
Cause
There is an issue with how this field is being rendered by the print engine
Resolution
- Remove the database filed from the report section
- Add a text field to the report section
- Add the database field into the text field
- This solution uses a different rendering path and the filed will now be visible
