Resolution

In order to set up your system to support alphanumeric IDs for Employees, please follow the below instructions:

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Select the Overview work center view.
  3. Search and open the fine tuning activity Number Range for Employees and Service Agents.
  4. In the new screen, select Number range for employees under the section Available Number Ranges.
  5. Enter the length of the employee ID in the field Total Length (including prefix).
  6. Fill the fields Start Number and End Number according to your requirements and make sure to set the Interval Type as Manual (refer to section See Also for details).

The Start Number should be 0 and the End Number always a row of nines which is one less than the total length, followed by a Z.

Example 1:

Total Length (including prefix): 5

Start Number: 0

End Number: 9999Z

Interval Type: Manual

Then you can define Employee IDs such as 12Z-5, 5-01A, 1-99Z.

Example 2:

Total Length (including prefix): 9

Start Number: 0

End Number: 99999999Z

Interval Type: Manual

Then you can define Employee IDs such as 00001A-1A, 1256-01AA, 10001-99Z.
