Symptom
Crystal Report Vertical Text Object rendering in the DHTML Viewer correctly when viewing via IE, but it appears horizontally via Firefox.
Environment
- Crystal Reports F.Eclipse
- Crystal Reports 2008
- JRC version: Gemini SP4
- Tomcat version: 5.5.26 Release
- JDK version:5.0
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a Crystal Report using Xtreme sample database.
- Insert a static text field into the report.
- Right click on textfield,Format Field Common Tab Text Rotation: 90 degrees/270 degress.
- The vertical text object is displayed correctly in Crystal Reports Designer.
- Save it into JRC application.
- Open the report in the JRC application.
- Text object fields are rendering correctly when viewing through IE.
- Text object fields appears horizontally when viewing through FireFox.
Cause
- The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT01358854
- This behavior is due to the limitations of FireFox displaying vertical text. Vertical text object rendering in the DHTML Viewer is not supported for Firefox.
Resolution
- Workaround One:Export the report to another format (for example, PDF). Then view the file through FireFox web browser.
- Workaround Two:Select Internet Explorer as web brower
