Symptom
You have multiple Organizational Structures defined in Organizational Management and you want to make an Organizational Structure obsolete.
Resolution
There are 2 ways of making an Org structure obsolete.
- Delimit the Org Units.
- Edit the Timelines.
Delimiting the Org Units:
In this case you can use the delimit functionality provided in Organizational Management. The Delimit function will use the effective date as the end date for the Org units. To use the delimit functionality
- Goto Edit Org Structure.
- Select an effective date and select the top Org Unit of the respective Company.
- Right click and under Edit use the delimit function.
You may get an error message stating that Cannot delimit org unit XXXX ('XXX'); child org unit exists from <Valid From Date> to <Valid To Date>. Here you need to repeat the above action as there will be child Org Units present in the Org Structure.
Editing the Timelines:
You can also use the edit Timeline functionality. To use this
In both the possibilities mentioned above if you try to change from top to bottom it may not allow you to change as child org units may be present in the structure. Our suggestion would be to change the timelime or use the delimit function in edit org structure from bottom to top. There will be veto check messages thrown if there are open business documents and employees assigned to those org units.
