1484036 - Making a Company Obsolete in Organizational Management

Symptom

You have multiple comapnies defined in Organizational Management and you want to make a company obsolete.

Resolution

You can use Edit Timelines functionality to make a company obsolete.

Editing the Timelines:

You can set the end date of a company here. To do so

  • Goto Edit Organizational Structure.
  • Select an effective date and select the top Org Unit of the respective Company.
  • Goto the  Timelines tab and change the Value of Valid To date of Company field under Definitions. The date needs to be set to a date when the company becomes obsolete.

    • Here it is possible that Veto Check messages thrown if there are open business documents or Business residence is defined or Cost centers has been assigned. You may see the following error messages

    •  <Start_Date> to <End_Date>; business residence XXXX cannot be moved from its current company. The business residence is a legal property that is permanently linked with its company. Instead of moving the business residence to a different company, create a new business residence.
    •  <Start_Date> to <End_Date>; cost center YYYY (YYYY) must be below a company. It is also possible to flag both definitions on the same org unit.

    In this case you may have to close any open document and also set the end dates for properties such as Business Residence, Cost Centers etc.
