1496619 - Event Viewer warning; A Crystal Reports job was delayed x seconds waiting for a free license

• Running a number of reports in a web application
• Event Viewer exhibits warnings regarding delayed jobs:

A Crystal Reports job was delayed 2 second waiting for a free license to become available.
More licenses can be purchased direct from Crystal Decisions or through the Crystal Decisions Online Store.

• Why are these warnings present in the Event Viewer?

• The report engine is configured with a 3 Concurrent Processor License (CPL)
• If 3 reports are being processed by the report engine and a 4th report is submitted, it is queued up resulting in the Even Log warnings

• This is only a warning.
• Ensure that the engine is not being requested to handle a greater load than it was designed for.
• For heavier loads consider web farms (use sticky sessions) or more scalable products such as the Crystal Reports Server or Business Objects Enterprise.
• Note that persistent heavy loads will cause the server to slow down and eventually cause errors:

A Crystal Reports job failed because a free license could not be obtained in the time allocated.
