Symptom

  • XI Release 2 Universe Designer SDK application invoked via COM-Interop using the .NET Framework.
  • Compilation fails when trying to set Designer.Parameter.Value to a string, with exception: "Property or indexer 'Designer.IParameter.Value' cannot be assigned to -- it is read only.". 
  • Specifying Parameter.Value programmatically using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) succeeds.
