1500987 - The Expected Contacts are Not Displayed in My Contacts for a specific user.

Symptom

The expected contacts are not displayed in My Contacts for a specific user.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Account Management work center.
  2. Select the Accounts view.
  3. Select the My Accounts option in the Show field.
The result list in the object work list (OWL) displays X numbers of hits.
  4. Select the Contacts view.
  5. Select the My Contacts option in the Show field.
The result list in the object work list (OWL) displays Y numbers of hits or no hits at all.

You expect that all contacts which are maintained in the accounts which are displayed in your result list under My Accounts will be displayed.

Cause

The contacts are not displayed in My Contacts for the user because the user is not entered as Direct Responsible (Yes) in the account/contact master data under the section Responsibilities.

Also no work distribution rule for Employee Responsible for Sales has been maintained.

This rule will determine the responsibilities and hence the entries for a user under My Contacts.

The only work distribution which has been maintained is Account responsibility by Party Role and this is the reason why the user can see the respective accounts under My Accounts.

Resolution

You can either add the user as Direct Responsible (Yes) in the account/contact master data or maintain a work distribution rule.

Maintain a work distribution rule for Employee Responsible for Sales :

  1. Go to the Application and User Management work center.
  2. Select the Task Distribution view and the Employee Work Distribution sub view.
  3. Select the Business Area: Sales and Marketing and navigate to the Employee Responsible for Sales work category.
  4. Press the Edit button.
  5. In the Work Distribution Rules tab press the Add Rule button.
  6. Enter the user in the Employee Responsible field and define the details of your rule under the section Rule Details.

This rule will determine the responsibilities and hence the entries for a user under My Contacts. The only work distribution which has been maintained is Account responsibility by Party Role and this is the reason why the user has the respective accounts under my Accounts.

Add a user as a Direct Responsible in the account master data:

  1. Go to the Account Management work center.
  2. Select the Accounts view.
  3. Select the All Accounts option in the Show field.
  4. Select the respective account and press the Edit -> Contacts button.
  5. In the Contacts tab select the Relationships and Responsibilities sub tab.
  6. In the Section Responsibilities press the Add Row button.
  7. Select the Employee Responsible - Sales party role and enter the respective user in the Employee field.
  8. Save your data.
