Symptom
- Connecting 32 bit version of Crystal Reports to an ODBC data source
- The report is not able to see the ODBC data source
Environment
- SAP Crystal Reports 2016
Reproducing the Issue
- On a 64 bit Operating System, create and ODBC data source using the Administrative Tools in the Control Panel
- Open a 32 bit Crystal Report and try to connect it to the above data source
Cause
- 32 bit Crystal Reports needs a 32 bit ODBC data source
- On a 64 bit Operating System it is possible to create both a 32 bit and a 64 bit data source
- ODBC administrator exe name is the same for both 32 and 64 bit (ODBCAD32.exe)
Resolution
- To create 32 bit ODBC data sources, use the ODBCAD32.exe in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
- To create 64 bit ODBC data sources, use the ODBCAD32.exe in C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe
