Symptom

How to create custom themes or templates in Xcelsius/Dashboards 4?

Environment

  • Xcelsius 4.5 (all versions)
  • Xcelsius 2008 (all versions)
  • Dashboards 4.0

Resolution

We cannot create custom themes in Xcelsius. This functionality does not currently exist in the product; however we can create custom templates.

Following are the steps to create custom templates:

  1. Create a sample dashboard using the desired color code.
  2. Save the dashboard and also export it as a flash (swf) file.
  3. Now create a new folder under the Xcelsius template directory (C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Xcelsius\assets\template) and place both these files in this new folder.
  4. With this you can now open the Xcelsius designer and use this newly created template.
