Symptom
- Error: Logon Fails
- No prompt displays to enter the user name and password for the SAP System selected.
- In Crystal Reports, when attempting to connect to an SAP data source, it doesn't prompt for the user credential and then fails with the error: Logon Failed.
- It was possible to connect to an SAP data source from Crystal Reports before an RSA SecurID was set for the SAP system.
Environment
- SAP Crystal Reports 2008
- SAP Crystal Reports 2011
- SAP Crystal Reports 2013
- SAP Crystal Reports 2016
Reproducing the Issue
- Set an RSA SecurID for your SAP system
- In Crystal Reports, create a new report
- In the Database Expert window, create a new connection to an SAP system by double clicking on: SAP Table, Cluster, or Function
- In the SAP System Logon window, select the SAP System to connect to, and click Finish
- Notice it doesn't prompt you for the user name and password for the RSA SecurID, and it then generates the error: Logon Fails
Cause
- This is happening because the RSA SecurID for the SAP system doesn't prompt the user for the user name and password
- Crystal Reports unfortunately does not support the RSA SecurID logon to connect to an SAP System, and this is why it fails to connect
Resolution
- Disable the RSA SecurID for the SAP System
- Once it is disable, when connecting to an SAP System from Crystal Reports, it will prompt you for the user name and password and connect successfully.
