Symptom

  • CMS hangs on startup - Business Objects XI 3.1 on Linux
    The last entry in the CMS log is:
    (DBConnectionManager.cpp:792) DBConnectionManager - Setting total target number of connections for pool 0 to 1.
  • The cms demon is running but it is not listening on its assigned port (default 6400)
  • Add a new SIA hangs
  • cmsdbsetup hangs
  • strace on the CMS or the cmsdbsetup shows an indefinite loop with an output similar to:
    13100 times(NULL) = -2058704771
