What are the differences between Metadata Integrator and Metadata Management?
The Metadata Integrator, MI, is for collecting Metadata of BusinessObjects Enterprise, BOE, objects like universes, folders, reports etc. The BOE Metadata will be collected using Business Objects, BO, SDK/Interfaces and stored in Data Services, DS, Repository. This information will be used by Impact and Lineage to show lineage of columns/tables used in a Report back to the source system. If you don't have BOE then this component is not required. MI is installed via the Data Services Installer.
The Metadata Management applications is a Web-based application that provides an integrated view of metadata objects and their relationships across all of the products used in a Business Intelligence project. Installation is now integrated into the BusinessObjects Enterprise Architecture.
