1540113 - List of Values failure when viewing Crystal Reports on Crystal Server

Symptom

While previewing the report, Crystal Report Server throws an error "List of Values failure: fail to get values. [Cause of error: createRowsets ReportSDKException(-2147482892):Failed to open the connection. Details: [Database Vendor Code: 12154 ] Failed to open the connection".

Environment

  • Crystal Reports Server XI R2 SP2
  • Linux
  • Oracle 10G

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create the Crystal Report using Oracle Database.
  2. Save the report on Crystal Report Server.
  3. Preview the report.
  4. User should not have the "Administrative" rights on the reporting database.

Cause

It causes because connection is not verified by database.

Resolution

  1. Open the particular report from Crystal Reports Designer.
  2. Go to "Database" tab and update "Set Database Location".
  3. Use native connection for every connection in the report.
  4. In "Database" tab click on “Verify database”.
  5. Verify the database for all the connections used in the particular report.
  6. Save the report to Crystal Reports Server.
  7. Logon to Central Management Console.
  8. Navigate the report saved from Crystal Report Designer.
  9. Click on "Process" tab and then "Database" tab of report.  
  10. Login to database with Administrative privileges.
  11. Go to the "Parameters" tab and set the appropriate values.
  12. Preview the report.
