Symptom

  • Reports based on Crystal Reports Informix Wire Protocol ODBC Driver failing in InfoView
  • Test connection is successful, but Reports failing with Database connection error
  • Error: "the database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect"

Environment

  • Crystal Reports XI Release 2
  • CR Informix Wire Protocol ODBC Driver 5.1

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Install CR Informix Wire Protocol ODBC Driver 5.0 In BOXIR2 Environment
  2. Install CR Informix Wire Protocol ODBC Driver 5.1 In Same Environment
  3. Create a DSN named "Test" using CR Informix Wire Protocol ODBC Driver 5.1
  4. Create a Report named "Report1" based on "Test" and save it to Enterprise
  5. View or Schedule "Report1"
  6. "Report1" Fails with error "the database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect"

Cause

Reports based on CR Informix Wire Protocol ODBC Drivers fail because of multiple versions of CR Informix Wire Protocol Drivers installed on same machine

Resolution

Remove the Keys "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\CR Informix ODBC Driver 5.0"
