1542966 - Is it Possible to Change the ID of a Product or Material ?

Is it possible to chnage the material ID of a Product or a Material ?

1. Go to Product Data workcenter.
2. Select Materials view.
3. Highlight the material and select Edit button.

Where you could able to edit/change all fields except Material ID.

The system works as designed.

Material ID is master data. Once it is created it is very difficult to change it from System level. Changing would require followup in Business Intelligence reports and other system level tables and there is very real possibility of causing inconsistency in the system.

So it is recommended to block those materials and create a new material.
