1544185 - Horizontal Page Size of .rtf file getting reduced to 8.5 inches when exporting the Crystal Report to RTF format

Symptom

  • Horizontal Page Size of .rtf file is getting reduced to 8.5 inches when Report is exported from Crystal Report Designer to RTF format
  • Some Fields are missing in .rtf file when exporting a Crystal Report to RTF format

Environment

  • MS Office 2003
  • Crystal Reports 2008

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Connect to "Xtreme" sample database and create a new Report on "Customer" table
  2. Click on file and go to "Page Setup"
  3. Check "No Printer" check box and "Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size" check box
  4. Change Horizontal Page Size of Report to 25 inches
  5. Export the Report to RTF
  6. Open the .rtf file
  7. Its Horizontal Page Size will be 8.5 Inches

Cause

This is the limitation with MS Word. If we export the Crystal Report with Horizontal Page Size greater than 22 Inches, then the Horizontal Page Size of .rtf file  gets reduced to default 8.5 inches

Resolution

  1. Open the Report in Crystal Report Designer and go to Page Setup
  2. Reduce the Horizontal Page Size of Report to 22 inches or less
  3. Export the Report to RTF
  4. Open .rtf file
  5. The Page Size of the Report would be retained
