Symptom

  • To show only the totals in stacked bar chart and hide the absolute value labes for the stacks in Crystal Report

Environment

  • Crystal Reports 2008 all Service packs

Resolution

  1. Create a sample Crystal Report on "Customer" table using "Xtreme" sample database
  2. Add a vertical "Stacked bar chart" on Report header
  3. Under "Chart Expert" select "Data" tab and choose "Customer.Country" and "Customer.Region" as "On change of" fields respectively
  4. Similarly choose "Sum of Customer.Last Year's Sales" as "Show value(s)" field
  5. Click on "Customer.Country" to enable "TopN" button and choose top 5 Countries
  6. Similarly choose top 3 Regions
  7. Go to "Chart Options" and select "Data Labels" Tab
  8. The "Show Total" check box would be disabled
  9. In order to enable it check "Show Data Labels" check box
  10. Now check "Show Total" check box
  11. This will show "Last Year’s Sales" total of all the Regions on top of Stacked bar along with Last years sales of respective regions as labels on each stack
  12. In order to hide data labels, go to "Chart Option" and uncheck "Show Data Label" check box
  13. Now the Stacked bar chart will only show the total "Last Year’s Sales" on top of stack and hide the Region wise "Data Labels"
