Symptom

When using Copy Data Source from BusinessObject XI R2 (MySQL) to BusinessObjects XI 3.1 (MySQL)

Error message: Failed to copy data from <source system name:portnumber> to <destination database>. Reason: Failed to initialize the source database. Data cannot be read. Reason: BusinessObjects Enterprise CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "<source database:system name:portnumber>". Reason: Access denied for user 'root'@ <Source IP Address>'(using password:YES).
