1571517 - ‘The format of the file businessobjects.liveoffice.liveofficeui.uiaddinframework.dll is invalid.’ error in Xcelsius.

Symptom

Following error message is displayed while accessing Live Office from Microsoft Excel:

‘The format of the file businessobjects.liveoffice.liveofficeui.uiaddinframework.dll is invalid.’

Environment

  • Xcelsius 2008 Service Pack 3
  • Live Office 3.1 Service Pack 3
  • Microsoft Office 2003
  • Microsoft Office 2010

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Install Microsoft Office 2003.
  2. Install Live Office 3.1 Service Pack 3.
  3. Upgrade Microsoft Office 2003 to Microsoft Office 2010.
  4. Now uninstall Microsoft Office 2010 and install Microsoft Office 2003.
  5. Open Microsoft Excel and try to access Live Office.
  6. Notice that following error message is displayed: 'The format of the file ‘businessobjects.liveoffice.liveofficeui.uiaddinframework.dll’ is invalid.'

Cause

Live Office fails to recognize the repeated changes made to Microsoft Office

Resolution

Uninstall and Reinstall Live Office.

1. Go to Add or Remove Programs under Control Panel.
2. Select BusinessObjects Live Office XI 3.1 and click on Remove.
3. Notice that the following message is displayed:
   “Are you sure you want to remove BusinessObjects Live Office XI 3.1 from your computer?”
4. Click on Yes.
5. Once the un-installation is complete, reinstall BusinessObjects Live Office XI 3.1.
