You have created a product category hierarchy and would like to know how to rename or delete product categories.

Renaming a Product Category:
It is possible to rename a product category and its sub-categories after they have been saved. The steps are as follows:
- Go to the Products work center.
- Access the Product Categories work center view.
- Click the Maintain Product Categories button.
- Select the relevant product category.
- Update the product category's description (field name: Product Category).
- Click the Save and Close button.
Deleting a Product Category:
Please note that only node level product categories (or sub-categories) can be deleted. The root level product category cannot be deleted once saved.
- Go to the Products work center.
- Access the Product Categories work center view.
- Click the Maintain Product Categories button.
- Select the relevant product category.
- Click the Actions button and choose Delete.
Please note:
- The sub-categories can be deleted only when the Product Assignment Indicator is unchecked.
- If the indicator was checked in the past and there are some existing products assigned to the product category, then this indicator cannot be unchecked. The user has to go to each of these products and change the product category assignment.
- If there are existing open documents (Sales Order, etc.) that already reference this product category, then the system will throw an error message.
- It is possible to manually delete only one product category at a time. Although the toggle option is provided to select multiple product categories, the Delete action is available only for single product category at a time.
