1576893 - EVDRE encountered an error when retrieving data from the Webserver

After upgrading to SP06, the EVDRE reports stop working.

After creating a new EVDRE and refreshing, BPC returns with "EVDRE encountered and error retrieving data from the server" and the Excel client basically hangs.
On the client log files, the following errors are seen:

clsMain.doQuery#User########Plain##Error: Unauthorized#
clsQuery.getDataFromServer#User########Plain##Error: 91-Object variable or With block variable not set#
clsExcelFunction.runSmartQuery#User########Plain##Errors found retrieving data#

The problem doesn't happen when running Fiddler to capture HTTP traffic.
