1578269 - Error in service call of Portal Component Component: Enterprise Portal logon issue

While trying to logon to the SAP AS Java or the Enterprise Portal (EP) , the operation fails and the below error is logged in the trace files (default trace file, std_server<x> and dev_server<x>):
