Maintenance Installation

This fix pack may either be installed as a new instance of SAP BusinessObjects Metadata Management or may be installed on top of an existing SAP BusinessObjects Metadata Management XI 3.1 (version 12.1) instance. For a full installation, please follow the installation instructions in your SAP BusinessObjects Metadata Management User’s Guide.

SAP BusinessObjects Metadata Management installation is part of the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise software installation framework. The installation framework for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 is different than for XI 3.0

For Windows, the SAP BusinessObjects Metadata Management installation automatically detects which version of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise is currently installed.

For UNIX, you must ensure that the BOEVERSION environment variable is set to the version of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise before you install SAP BusinessObjects Metadata Management.

• If you currently have SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise version XI 3.1 installed, you do not need to set BOEVERSION because its default value is 3.1.
• If you currently have SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise version XI 3.0 installed, you must set BOEVERSION to 3.0. For example, enter the following command:
  • Export BOEVERSION=3.0

If BOEVERSION is not set to the correct version, an error occurs and you must exit the installer to set it.
