After Data Migration with templates (e.g the template for Products, Production Models or Bill of Materials), you notice that data is incomplete: for example, parts of Description or Description Detail are missed.
Reproducing the Issue
The issue may happen on various templates. We will put the template of Products as an example:
- Go to Product Portfolio work center
- Go to view Products
- Go to sub-view By materials
- Set search criteria as All Materials and search
You will see some data, such as Description or Description Detail, are not complete comparing the original information in the template cells.
Cause
The cells in several columns contain not only data, but format information that is preventing a correct interpretation of the corresponding cells.
Resolution
It is very important, to follow the instructions given in the Introduction tab of the template:
Use Paste Special > Values to copy columns from other lists. Do NOT USE the simple Paste, because it overwrites the original format information.
To move forward, please use a fresh template, and copy the content of your template sheets into the sheets of the new template following the Introduction.
