1591669 - Error Message "Sales Organization XYZ Cannot Be Below Sales Organization ABC"

While checking the consistency of an org structure during activation, system throws the below error message:

"DD.MM.YYYY to DD1.MM1.YYYY1; sales organization XYZ cannot be below sales organization ABC" (where XYZ stands for the first org unit's ID and ABC stands for the second org unit's ID, parent of the first)

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Organizational Management work center.
2. Select Edit Org Structures under Common tasks.
3. Select one of the relevant org units, ABC or XYZ.
4. Click the Check button and choose Check Selected Structure.

The cause for the error message is due to the fact that on the dates mentioned in the error message, org unit XYZ was maintained as sales organization. At the same time, org unit ABC is also a sales organization.

The sales organization represents the top org unit of a sales hierarchy—as such, there should be only one in each hierarchy.

1. Go to the Organizational Management work center.
2. Select Edit Org Structures under Common tasks.
3. Change the Effective Date to the first mentioned date in the error message.
4. Select the Org unit XYZ.
5. Go to Functions tab.
6. Uncheck the Sales Organization box.
7. Click the Save button.

After this, it should be possible to check and activate the org structure successfully.
