Symptom
Installation of Crystal Reports Server 2008 hangs.
Environment
- Crystal Reports Server 2008 Service Pack 3
- Windows Server 2008 R1 SP2 64 bit
Reproducing the Issue
- Log into Windows Server with User having Administrator privileges.
- Start Crystal Reports Server 2008 installation.
Cause
- IPv6 enabled on the Windows Server 2008 causes the Crystal Reports Server installation to hang.
- However certain other recommendations as mentioned under the Resolution need to be followed for installing any BusinessObjects product.
Resolution
- Log in with the Windows Administrator User OR a User with administrator privileges.
- Disable User Account Control Setting (UAC).
- Disable any Antivirus software and Firewall.
- Right click on the Network icon on the Task Bar and select Network and Sharing Center.
- Click on Manage Network Connections.
- Right click on the Local Area Connection and select its Properties.
- Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click OK.
- Right click on Computer in Start Menu and select Properties.
- Click on Advanced System Settings.
- Click on Settings in the Performance section.
- Click on Data Execution Prevention Tab.
- Check the first option Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and Services only.
- Restart the Windows system after applying this settings.
- Install the Crystal reports Server in C:\Program Files (x86)\.
