1594018 - Installation of Crystal Reports Server 2008 hangs on Windows Server 2008.

Symptom

Installation of Crystal Reports Server 2008 hangs.

Environment

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 Service Pack 3
  • Windows Server 2008 R1 SP2 64 bit

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log into Windows Server with User having Administrator privileges.
  2. Start Crystal Reports Server 2008 installation.

Cause

  • IPv6 enabled on the Windows Server 2008 causes the Crystal Reports Server installation to hang.
  • However certain other recommendations as mentioned under the Resolution need to be followed for installing any BusinessObjects product.

Resolution

  1. Log in with the Windows Administrator User OR a User with administrator privileges.
  2. Disable User Account Control Setting (UAC).
  3. Disable any Antivirus software and Firewall.
  4. Right click on the Network icon on the Task Bar and select Network and Sharing Center.
  5. Click on Manage Network Connections.
  6. Right click on the Local Area Connection and select its Properties.
  7. Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click OK.
  8. Right click on Computer in Start Menu and select Properties.
  9. Click on Advanced System Settings.
  10. Click on Settings in the Performance section.
  11. Click on Data Execution Prevention Tab.
  12. Check the first option Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and Services only.
  13. Restart the Windows system after applying this settings.
  14. Install the Crystal reports Server in C:\Program Files (x86)\.
