1595421 - While Assigning a Work Schedule to an Employee, System Throws an Exception

Symptom

You as a Time Administrator, while assigning a work schedule to an employee, system throws an exception.

Environment

 SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Time Administration work center.
  2. Select Employees view.
  3. Select an employee and select Edit button.
  4. Go to Time profile tab.
  5. Select Work Schedule sub tab.
  6. Select a Work Schedule.

System throws Exception.

Cause

The problem is caused by the fact that the period model used in the time profile does not have a correct sequence of days for a week.

When using a period time model, it must contain a sequential series of days. There cannot be a gap between two days in the model (For example: 1, 3, 4, 5)

Resolution

You can check the period model by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Time Administration work center.
  2. Enter Time Model View.
  3. Select the Period Model to be assigned to the employee.
  4. Click Edit.

Here you can see that the Day column is not in sequence.

It is suggested to set up a week containing 7 days similar to the example below:

Day 1 - Daily Model = XYZ

Day 2 - Daily Model = XYZ

Day 3 - Daily Model = XYZ

Day 4 - Daily Model = XYZ

Day 5 - Daily Model = XYZ

Day 6 - Daily Model = no model>

Day 7 - Daily Model = no model>

Where XYZ represents the daily Time Model.
