1599386 - Dynamic parameter prompt loads slowly in CR Designer

• Dynamic Parameter Prompt with thousands of unique values takes a long time to load
• Same values load via a SQL Query or Crystal Report much more quickly

• Dynamic Parameter Prompt

1. Create a new Crystal Report on a database with thousands of unique values
2. Add a Dynamic Parameter to the report that prompts with thousands of unique values
3. Add the parameter to the Record Selection or anywhere on the report
4. Refresh the report
5. Notice that the Parameter takes a long time to prompt

• The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT01507133
• Defect in the Prompt engine causes list of values to be processes inefficiently

For Crystal Reports 2008 the issue has been fixed in the following Fix Packs:-

• Service Pack 3 Fix Pack 3.5
• Service Pack4 Fix Pack 4.1
• Service Pack 5

For Crystal Reports 2011 the issue has been fixed in the following Support Packs/Patches:-

• Support Pack 4

 

Above mentioned patches Contain a fix to the prompt engine that dramatically improves prompting performance the fix was for BusinessObjects Enterprise Scheduling and also fixes the CR Designer due to it being in the prompt engine
