Symptom
When you try to activate an Org Structure, system throws below error message:
Site assigned to permanent establishment 9999 (Business Residence name) from DD/MM/YYYY to DD/MM/YYYY is not active
Activation Failed; resolve all errors
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Organizational Management work center.
- Select Edit Org Structures.
- Select Activate and choose Selected Structure.
Cause
There could be 2 possibilities for the issue, they are:
- The Site assigned to the org unit 9999 is not active, which means the status of the site is Blocked for the particular period.
- You might have converted the org unit 9999 to another org structure. So the org unit 9999 still shows the previous site assignment.
Resolution
Resolution 1: (To activate the Site, follow the below steps)
- Go to Organizational Management work center.
- Select Edit Org Structures.
- Highlight the Org Unit and go to Definitions tab.
- Select Details link besides Business Residence.
- Select Associated Site link.
- A new screen opens, Select Edit button.
- Select Change button and choose Activate.
Resolution 2:
A site belongs to exactly one business residence. A business residence belongs to exactly one site.
You cannot move a business residence as it is by definition the geographical representation of a place where the company is doing business. The geographical representation is the Site. A location can also not be transferred from one business residence to another.
This means once the business residence is activated and created, the assignment cannot change. And you cannot create a new site as of a specific date. And it seems you are actually trying to move the business residence and that is not possible by definition. This cannot be achieved.
In this case you can delimit the business residence flag in org unit 9999 and create a new business residence which will create a new site with the name of Business residence. Then, you can able to activate the Org structure, which will create a new site.
