1610446 - Crystal Reports using CMS database as datasource shows garbage values

  • Database Fields from CMS Database showing garbage values in Crystal Reports

  • BOXI3.1 All Patches
  • CR 2008 All patches
  • SQL server 2008

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a DSN pointing to CMS database server
  2. Launch Crystal Report and Create a new report on CMS database
  3. Add any table from CMS database and place few of the fields into report
  4. Some fields might show garbage values

In BusinessObjects Enterprise, the Central Management Server (CMS) database only contains pointers to the encrypted proprietary file storage system.CMS database is not for reporting purpose. In some cases it might show the correct values however Reporting on CMS database is not supported

This is the expected behaviour of Crystal Reports because it is showing the database fields as they are stored in database.
