Symptom
You are trying to confirm a put away task for customer return, but system is showing information message:
'Logistics area XYZ is not recommended; some constraints not met; Logistics area defined with exception usage Storage'.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Inbound Logistics Work Center.
- Navigate to the Task Control view.
- Search for the relevant task.
- Select it and choose Confirm button.
- Enter Actual Quantity and then enter Target Logistics Area ID as XYZ, then the message would occur.
Cause
System would check the logistics use of the target logistics area (or source logistics area, depends on which logistics business) maintained in the corresponding logistics model when doing any logistics business.
However, the logistics use of the Logistics Area XYZ you filled out does not match the logistics use maintained in the corresponding logistics model, resulting in this error reporting.
Take this case as the example, Goods Return Receiving in the corresponding logistics Model Type.
- Go to the Warehousing and Logistics Master Data Work Center.
- Navigate to the Logistics Models View.
- Open the Advanced Filter.
- Select the Logistics Model Type as Goods Return Receiving, select Site ID based on your business.
- Choose Go.
- Since the scenario mentioned in this case is task-specific. So we need to select the record which Without Tasks is not ticked.
- Choose Edit.
- Select the line of Element Operation, then you can see the maintained Destination Logistics Use.
- Open the Master Data of Logistics Area XYZ, then you will understand that the maintained Destination Logistics Use in the Logistics Model doesn't exist in the list of the logistics use for the Logistics Area.
That is why system gives information message.
NOTE: Such errors in any other logistics business can be checked in the steps described above.
Resolution
To solve this error, you can align the Logistics Use in your logistics model or add a new logistics use for the selected logistics area based on your own business.
