1616591 - Error:" Failed to read data from report file C:\Users\constantin.uliniuc\Desktop\Test.rpt. Symptom

Error: "Failed to read data from report file C:\Users\constantin.uliniuc\Desktop\Test.rpt. Reason: Unable to launch C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\ReportAdd program to add report to the system", while publishing a Crystal report to Enterprise using publishing wizard.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal designer, open a crystal report.
  2. Navigate to File->Summary info.
  3. In the report title field enter a title like test"it, with a single double quote.
  4. Save the report.
  5. Launch Publishing Wizard and export this report to enterprise.
  6. It hangs for about 5 min. and then throws an error message: "Failed to read data from report file C:\Users\constantin.uliniuc\Desktop\Test.rpt. Reason: Unable to launch C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\ReportAdd program to add report to the system".

Resolution

This issue is identified as a bug with id ADAPT01569946 and targeted for a fix in Service Pack 6(SP6) of Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1.
