Symptom

 When using Excel as a data source for a Web Intelligence report, the following error occurs:

  • Web Intelligence 4.0:  "An error has occurred from the server. Unable to create or update the Excel personal data provider: the range selection is invalid. (IES 10885)"
  • Web Intelligence XI 3.1:  "Unable to create or update the Excel personal data provider: the range selection is invalid. (WIS 10885)"
