1620696 - Information Message 'Cannot Display Address Data; Data Protected' While Edit/View an Employee's Address Through Business Partner

You are trying to update an employee's address in the Business Partner Data work center, however the system displays below information message:

"Cannot display Address data; data protected"

 SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Business Partner Data work center.
2. Enter the Business Partners view.
3. Search for the respective business partner.
4. Click on the Edit button.
5. Navigate to the Address tab.

Here, it is not possible to view the address of the employee.

If the address of the business partner was created/maintained through the employee's personnel file (in the Personnel Administration work center) and if it contains the private address of an employee, this data is considered protected. This means that if a user tries to access this address data through a different work center (in this case, Business Partner Data), the information will not be available.

It is only possible to update the address data of a business partner employee through the Personnel Administration work center.

Note: if the Business Partner has solely the role Employee and from the Business partner an Account is created (through the option "Create As" in the Business Partners view), it should be possible to view and edit the addresses maintained for the account, however the employee's address remains protected.
