Symptom
- There is space above Page Footer in Crystal Reports (CR) report if there is not enough data on each page
- By default there is a blank row above Page Footer rows after Exporting to Excel file
- The height of blank row in Excel file depends on height of space in CR report
Environment
- Crystal Reports 2008
- SAP Crystal Reports 2011
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a CR report based on eFashion Universe.
- Drag [Year], [Quarter], [State] and [Sales revenue] object to Result Objects pane.
- Click Insert > Group, Insert Group dialogue is displayed.
- In Common tab, group Year object in ascending order.
- In Options tab, check New Page After 1 Visible Groups.
- Go to Design Mode.
- Hide Group Footer #1.
- Insert Text Object into Page Footer and input “This is Page Footer” on Design mode.
- Go to Preview Mode.
=>Note that there is space above Page Footer. - Export report to Excel file by clicking Export > Export Report > Microsoft Excel (97-2003).
- In the Excel Format Options dialog, under Export page headers and page footers field, select On each page.
- Open the exported excel file.
=>Note that there is a blank row above Page Footer. And the height of blank row in Excel file depends on height of space in CR report.
Cause
By default there is a blank row above Page Footer rows after Exporting to Excel file, this is by design.
Resolution
- Open the CR report.
- Go to Report > Section Expert > Page Footer and check Clamp Page Footer.
- Go to Preview mode.
=>Confirm that there is no space above Page Footer in CR report. - Export report to Excel file.
- Open the exported excel file.
=>Confirm that there is no blank row above Page Footer.
