Symptom
You notice that when you create a material with an ID that has leading zeroes followed by numeric values, the leading zeros are truncated.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Product Data work center.
- Select New Material under Common Tasks.
- Enter a material ID with leading zeroes (for example, 000123).
- Upon saving, the ID is saved only as 123 instead of 000123
Cause
If the material ID have alpha-conversion enabled, then the below mentioned behavior is the same for all alpha-conversion identifiers.
If you enter the material ID with leading zeroes followed by numeric values, the zeroes will be truncated. But if you have a material ID with leading zeroes followed by alphanumeric values (for exampe, 000X12), then the zeros will remain.
Resolution
This is the expected system behavior.
