Symptom

Connecting to an Oracle database
On preview of a report with a CLOB (Character Large Object) data field the following error is thrown:

Failed Open a rowset

Details:ADO Error Code 0x
Source Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle

Description: Unspecified Error

Reproducing the Issue

In the Crystal Reports designer log on to an Oracle database - using MS OLE DB provider
Select a table containing the CLOB data field
Place the CLOB field on the report
Preview the report

Cause

Microsoft OLE DB Provider does not support CLOB field types
