1654088 - How to Migrate the Organizational Structure from one System to Another System

As a Key User, you want to understand how to migrate the existing Organizational Structure from one system to another system.

1. Import data from first test system to production system:

If you originally created basic data in a test system, you can import it to your production system with minimum effort. The system automatically extracted the Organizational structure data from your test system into a spreadsheet and uploaded it to the migration tool of the production system.

1. Go to Business Configuration work center
2. Select Implementation Projects view or Overview
3. Search and Open the activity Perform Organizational Structure Setup
4. Select Import organizational structure using the migration tool
5. Upload the Migration File
6. Execute Migration for the respective Migration File with Migration Mode Add new records
7. This successfully migrates the Organizational structure which was copied from test system

  Note that you can only import the Org structure that is valid at one key date.

2. Copy basic data from production system to migration test system:

If you created basic data in a production system and are working in a migration test system now, the data was copied to the migration test system automatically already. In this case you do not have to import it to the migration test system.

To reduce the effort, do not create basic data in the migration test system initially. In this case, you would have to repeat creation in the production system.

3. Restricted: Initial setup by import of individually created source file:

Experienced migration experts can initially set up the Organizational structure in the migration template and import it using the migration tool, just like you would do it with other migration objects. For the Organizational structure, this can only be done in close cooperation with your SAP service adviser.

4. Import of data from a production system to a different production system:

This option is not supported. You cannot import a file extracted from a production system. You must initially setup the Organizational structure for the new system version again.
