1657417 - Is it Possible to Change the Inventory Valuation UoM or Logistics UoM for a Material?

You would like to know whether it is possible to change the Inventory Valuation unit of measure (UoM) or the Logistics unit of measure for a material, as even after changing the base UoM, the Inventory Valuation and Logistics UoMs remain unchanged.

In the Valuation tab of a material, if you activate the Companies/Business Residence, then it is not possible to change the Inventory Valuation UoM after that. All the Business Residences used in the Valuation tab will take the same UoM as set for the first time.

A change is also not possible via Migration Tool or OData.

Similarly, in Logistics, Planning and Availability Confirmation tabs of the materials, it is not possible to change UoM once it is activated.

NOTE: Other than Sales and Purchsing, all other tabs are dependent on each other. Ex: if you have activated a Business Residence in Logistics, then you cannot edit the UoM in other tabs, ex.: Valuation.

This is the expected system behavior.

To overcome this situation, you can maintain the quantity conversion in the Material for the old UoM to a new UoM.

1. Go to the Product Data work center.
2. Access the Materials view.
3. Select the relevant material and click Edit.
4. In the General tab of that Material, you can maintain the quantity conversion between the old base UoM and new UoM or vice versa.
