1658990 - Error Message: "Error Creating Control - CrystalReportViewer1" with the BI Platform 4.0 .NET SDK

Symptom

In designing a web application using the SAP BusinessIntelligence 4.0 (BI 4.0) .NET SDK when you add the CrystalReportViewer drag and drop control to a web page you'll receive the following error in Design View:

Error Creating Control - CrystalReportViewer1

  • Failed to create designer 'CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportViewer, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=14.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304'

If you also add a CrystalReportSource control to the web page the ReportSourceControl will generate a similar error:

Error Creating Control - CrystalReportSource1

  • Failed to create designer 'CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportSource, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=14.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304'
