Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2011
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2013
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2016

  • SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.0
  • SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.1
  • SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.2

  • SAP BW 7.4
  • SAP BW 7.5

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal Reports, create a report based on an SAP BW BEx Query.
  2. Save the report to the SAP BW System from Crystal Reports, using the SAP menu in Crystal Reports.
  3. Using the SAP BW Publisher, publish the report to the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform.
  4. In Crystal Reports, under the menu "File", select "Open"
  5. In the "Open" dialog window, select "Enterprise", and connect to the SAP BusinessObjects BI Server.
  6. Navigate to the folder containing the report that was published. Notice the report appears greyed out.
  7. Double click on the report and it displays the message: "SAP Business Warehouse Published report is not supported!"

Cause

  • This message is displayed as part of the enhancement on the way multilingual reports are handled on the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform.

  • In previous versions, localised SAP BW BEx Query reports could be created and were stored as seperate reports on the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Platform. In SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.0 and above, SAP BW published reports in the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform are transient documents and are therefore stored under the same stored object. The one entry observed in the open dialog when the report stored on the SAP BusinessObjects BI Server is displayed in Crystal Reports, may actually contain several localised reports. The editing of such reports are now not allowed so that consistency may be maintained between the SAP BW system and the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform, as well as between all localised reports that constitute the displayed report. These enhancements were tracked in ADAPT01368380.

Resolution

  • To open and edit the reports that where published using the SAP BW Publisher, open the report from the SAP menu in Crystal Reports:

    1. In Crystal Reports designer, under the menu "SAP", select "Open Report..."
    2. Select the SAP BW System to connect to, and enter the SAP User credentials.
    3. Select the report to update.
    4. Modify the report.
    5. Republish the report using the SAP BW Publisher.

This would keep all documents in sync.
