Symptom

  • When running a Crystal Report in a 64 bit application, the summary field is converted to string
  • When running a Crystal Report in a 32 bit application, the summary field is correct (not converted)

Environment

  • Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010
  • Visual Studio 2010

Reproducing the Issue

  • Using VS2010, display a report with a summary field in a 64 bit application
  • Using the export button of the viewer, export the report to Crystal Reports file format
  • Open the report in a Crystal Reports Designer
  • Summary field(s) will be defaulted to string type

Resolution

  • The issue is resolved in Service Pack 2 for Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010
