Symptom

  • Error "An error occurred while communicating with Microsoft Excel. To prevent further data corruption, Xcelsius must close." when opening Xcelsius on a system with Essbase client

Environment

  • Xcelsius 2008

Reproducing the Issue

  1. On a machine with Xcelsius already installed, install Essbase client with Excel add-on
  2. Start Xcelsius application
  3. Error "An error occurred while communicating with Microsoft Excel. To prevent further data corruption, Xcelsius must close." pop ups

Resolution

  • Remove or disable Essbase add-on from Excel
