1669118 - Cannot remove subreport using RAS SDK

Symptom

In BusinessObjects Enterprise 4.0 the following RAS SDK API call to remove a subreport from a Crystal Report at runtime:
oReportClientDocument.getReportDefController().getReportObjectController().remove(oReportObject);
throws the error:
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKServerException: Not implemented
---- Error code:-2147467259 [CRSDK00000000] Error code name:failed

The same code works fine in XI 3.1 SP4.
The error is specific to removing a subreport, it works fine it you remove a text or data field object.
