Symptom
The GR/IR clearing run finishes with the error message 'Account determination missing for material'.

Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Inventory Valuation work center and choose the Periodic Tasks view.
- Select the GR/IR Clearing sub-view.
- Select the target run ID, and choose View.
- Go to the Processed With Errors tab.
- Navigate to the line item of the purchasing document in question: You can see the error message at the bottom of the screen 'Account determination missing for material'.
Cause
- There is a difference between the purchasing price and the invoice price, either due to an actual price difference or due to exchange rate differences (for example, if the goods receipt is posted in company currency CC whereas the supplier invoice is posted in a different foreign currency, FC.
- For these differences no G/L account are defined in fine tuning.
Resolution
Maintain the missing account determination setting in the fine tune activity Charts of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination - Account Determination before executing the next GR/IR clearing run:
- Go to the Business Configuration work center and access the Chart of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination fine tune activity, either through the implementation project's activity list or in the Overview section.
- Select Account Determination and navigate to Inventory.
- Select the respective Account Determination profile and select the subledger Inventories.
- Navigate to the Differences tab.
- Maintain the G/L accounts for Gain/Loss from Purchasing Price Differences, and Gain/Loss from Exchange Rate Differences for the account determination group associated with the material.
